pinganigig.gif (14248 bytes)Ping regularly ask Lee to try out experimental or prototype clubs and will manufacture or adapt a club to Lee’s own requirements. A visit to Ping’s UK base at Gainsborough, Lincolnshire is a fairly frequent occurrence on Lee’s home visits, where the talk is of club head speed, shaft configuration, grips and any one of a dozen other considerations in making Lee’s use of the equipment as profitable as possible, both for player and manufacturer.

The caps and visors Lee wears feature the ‘Ping’ legend prominently on the side panel, with the new Coca Cola sponsorship on the front. Lee colour co-ordinates his caps with his Antigua shirts!

NEWSFLASH ... Wednesday 8th November 2000

Lee signed a new multi-year contract with PING at Valderrama today.   Lee will continue to play with PING clubs as he has done since the age of thirteen.

"I have played PING since my very earliest days as a junior and I can see absolutely no point in changing a winning formula - long may the relationship continue."

Needless to say, Ping are delighted to have such a consistently successful and popular tour pro using their equipment.

G2 Woods

With the new G2 Driver, PING engineers have again raised the bar in driver design. Longer, straighter and more forgiving than any PING driver to date, the G2 utilizes advanced design techniques and manufacturing processes to improve performance for golfers of all abilities.

Available in lofts of 7.0°, 8.5°, 10.0° and 11.5°, the 460cc head has a precision-milled variable thickness face. Robotically plasma-welded to the driver body, the face creates increased energy transfer that pushes the G2 driver right up to the allowable limit. Variable sole thickness creates a lower spin rate and a higher launch angle for optimal carry and roll.

S59 irons

The S59 irons combine tradition and technology to provide you with a high-performing blade in your choice of two finishes. The new S59 Tour model (above) has a brushed/polished finish with a ferrule for a classic look, while the standard S59 model has a blasted/brushed finish and no ferrule.

The S59 features a bar across the cavity which produces a solid feel and distance control. The center of gravity, which is closer to the face, creates a penetrating trajectory. A thin top line and cambered sole ensure confidence and easy alignment, and the small cavity adds forgiveness on mishits.

PING Udrainium Series putter

doc12.5.jpg (8711 bytes)

While in Dubai for the Desert Classic (March 2005) Lee picked up a new PING putter, a  Doc 12.5. The putters come in three sizes. Doc15 and Doc 17 are its two bigger "sisters" ... the number refers to the length of the face in centimetres.
PING Craz-E putter
The Craz-E's geometric shape, high MOI, and soft, responsive feel have made it the hottest putter on the market, according to the latest industry survey. It's also been put to good use on Tour, where it was used by Mark James to win the Ford Senior Championship, a major on the Champions Tour. Four new Craz-E models will soon be available for golfers who prefer mid-length ("belly") putters, long putters, center-shafted, or an Anser-style hosel

Titleist328916-prov1468-60.gif (12288 bytes)

Lee uses Titleist Pro V1x balls and marks his balls with one black spot on each side of the number.

The Pro V1's higher ball speed and lower spin combine to produce very long driver and iron distance. Higher launching with a flatter, less arcing ascent, the Pro V1 has a ball flight which holds its line even in very windy conditions. With short irons, its higher launch and steeper angle of descent provide Drop and Stop™ performance into the green. The very thin urethane elastomer cover provides soft, solid feel and offers shear and abrasion durability.

Re:  the new Titleist Pro V1x. What differences have you found?
Lee said, "In general, I'd say it's slightly longer with the driver. The biggest difference I've found, though, is with the short irons and the wedges. I have always struggled with spinning the ball too much but I have so much more control now. It's a great ball for me"

Quorn

COVENTRY, ENGLAND - MAY 5: Lee Westwood is pictured as he announces that he has signed a new two-year sponsorship deal with Quorn, prior to the Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters on the Eden Course at the Forest of Arden on May 5, 2004 near Coventry, England. Lee, who has 26 worldwide victories, recently embarked on a major health and fitness regime in order to ensure he continues to compete at the highest level. Over the last 6 months Lee has lost 30lbs and during this time Quorn has been a key part of his dietary regime, and this sponsorship reflects the fact that he is one of the brands most high profile advocates.

quorn.jpg (35974 bytes)

Update 2005 - Lee said: "I’ve been eating a number of Quorn™ products for a while now as part of my diet and nutrition plans. As it is so low in fat compared to even the leanest of meats, I can eat many of the foods I enjoy without the consequences.

"I am certain the Quorn™ range of products has played a significant part in helping me regulate and manage my weight, which has allowed me to maintain and improve my form out on the golf course."

Guy Longworth, marketing director at Quorn™, concluded: "We are delighted that Michael Vaughan and Lee are on board to endorse Quorn™ products for another year. Both have enjoyed great success over the past 12 months and it is great that Quorn™ has helped both of them to this success.

"The nutritional benefits of eating Quorn™ products mean that people can achieve and maintain a healthy weight for performing sport at all levels, not just at international standard. Individuals can set themselves specific goals without compromising on the type of meals they enjoy – it is something that should be tried."

Quorn™ makes healthy eating surprisingly enjoyable not just for top sportspeople, but also those keen on embracing a healthy diet. Its tasty range of products contains high levels of protein and fibre, which satisfy the largest of appetites, whilst being seriously low in fat and calories. This enables active people to enjoy more efficient exercise by having better control of their calorie intake compared with energy expenditure.

Corporate Sponsorship

MPS

mps.jpg (3955 bytes)

Lee has signed a one-year deal worth a six-figure sum with American group MPS with the option of extending the deal for a further two years. He will be involved with two recruitment companies, Modis (click here to visit the website) and Badenoch & Clark who are part of MPS Group,

"It is the first time they have sponsored anyone in Britain but the holding group, MPS, sponsor the American Tour professional Len Mattiace," said his manager Andrew Chandler of ISM.

"The deal involves some corporate work at tournaments where MPS will be involved. I can see the deal growing quite big. Lee has become more aware over the last couple of years of what a sponsor wants and what he is prepared to give them and I think his sponsors now will see a different Lee Westwood.

Three or four years ago he almost took winning for granted and sponsors almost the same way. He was winning that much that the sponsors were always going to be sponsors. Whereas now, he sees it doesn't quite work like that and everybody will be better for it."
